Bohdan Vakhnianyn

Bohdan Vakhnianyn [Богдaн Вaхнянин], (b. in 1886 in the town of Stryi, Lviv region, Ukraine; d. January 18, 1940, in Lviv, Ukraine). Composer and conductor of the “Boyan” singing society in Peremyshl.  He was the son of musician Ivan Vakhnianyn, and the nephew of Anatol Vakhnianyn, one of the founders of the first “Boyan” singing society. He learned music theory and composition from his uncle Anatol and from Stanislav Liudkevych. He worked all his life as a teacher in the gymnasia and music schools of the area around Lviv. He died in Lviv and is buried with the rest of his family grave in Plot #72 of Lychakiv Cemetery.
