Michael Knapp

Michael Knapp [Михaйло Кнaп], (b. 1919 in Simpson, Pennsylvania; d. March 6, 2012, in Parma, Ohio). Church choir director. Brother of Msgr. Stephen Knapp. In the 1930s, he was the choirmaster at Holy Transfiguration in the Hanover Section of Nanticoke, PA, and at St. Nicholas GCC in nearby Glen Lyon. From 1941 to 1951, he directed at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Cleveland. In 1974, he was asked to organize a choir for the newly-built church of St. Andrew’s in nearby Parma (est. 1967), where he served for the next eleven years.
