Rev. Volodymyr Sluzar

Rev. Volodymyr Sluzar [о. Володимир Слузар], (b. 1895 in Chunkiv, Bukovyna, Ukraine; d. 1976 in Montreal, Quebec). Pastor of St. Sophie Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Montreal, Quebec for forty-eight years. He immigrated to Canada in 1923, and became a priest shortly thereafter. He served in several parishes in Saskatchewan before moving to Montreal in 1926 to establish the church of St. Sophie, the first Ukrainian Orthodox parish in Eastern Canada. Rev. Sluzar was an accomplished choral conductor. His church choir was known for its excellence.
