Roman Andrushko [Роман Андрушко], (b. June 28, 1928, in Lviv; d. Jan. 17, 2018, in Chicago). Ukrainian musician, pedagogue. Following World War II, he went to Munich, Germany, to study at the Ukrainian Free University. He immigrated to America in 1949 and served in the U. S. Army (1951-53). In 1957, he earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Chicago’s Roosevelt University and moved to Texas, where he played bass in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He returned to Chicago and worked as a high school music teacher (1963-93). During that time, he also directed a number of local choirs, including the choir “PROMETHEUS” [Прометей] of St. Volodymyr and Olha UCC and “SURMA” Male Chorus [Сурма].
