Myron Fedoriv

Myron Fedoriv [Мирон Федорів], (b. 1907 in Kryve, Lviv oblast, Ukraine; d. December 23, 1996, in Philadelphia, PA). Composer, choir director, and leading authority on the liturgical chants of western Ukraine, especially those of the Transcarpathian region. He studied at the Warsaw National Conservatory, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the University of Vienna. He came to America after WWII, and settled in Connecticut, where he taught music at St. Basil College in Stamford, CT. After that, he lived and worked in Chicago. Among his numerous publications are the following religious works: the Jerusalem Matins, the Easter Matins, a volume on liturgical music, two books of religious hymns for choir, piano music and solos. He retired from teaching in 1979 and moved to Philadelphia, where he passed away on December 23, 1996.

(1942-44): Studied at Mozarteum in Salzburg and the University of Vienna.
