Jaroslav Fylypiv

Jaroslav Fylypiv [Ярослав Филипів], (b. September 9, 1923, in Lviv, Ukraine; d. ?). Fylypiv studied music at the Mykola Lysenko Institute in Lviv. After fighting in WWII, he immigrated to Munich and then to Detroit, where he studied engineering at Wayne State University. During the 1960s and 1970s, he directed the church choir at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hamtramck, Michigan. Around that time also, he was a co-director of the “Trembita” Chorus, together with Bohdan Kushnir.
