Rev. Vasyl Kudryk [Вaсиль Кyдрик], (b. October 13, 1880, in Tsebriw, Ternopil, Ukraine; d. October 7, 1963 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada). Poet, priest, and editor. Kudryk was born in Halychyna in 1880 in the village of Tsebriw, Ternopil oblast. He came with his family to Canada in 1903 and settled on a farm near Tolstoi, Manitoba. He was the first editor of the weekly newspaper “Ukrainian Voice” [Український Голос] from 1910-1921. He was also one of the founders of St. Mary the Protectress (Sobor) in Winnipeg. In 1923, he was ordained into the priesthood and served at various parishes around Saskatchewan until 1941, when he became editor of “The Herald” [Вісник], the official newsletter of the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church in Canada. Fr. Kudryk also lectured at St. Andrew’s College until his retirement in 1954.
