Zenon Lawryshyn

Zenon Lawryshyn [Зеновій Лавришин], (b. 1943 in Rudnyky, Lviv oblast, Ukraine; d. 2017 in Toronto, Оntario, Canada). Composer, pianist, and conductor. A graduate of Toronto’s Royal Conservatory (1961) and the University of Toronto (1969), he went on to study piano in Paris (1965-1966). During the 1960s and ‘70s, he directed the choir at Holy Protection Ukrainian Catholic Church in Toronto, ON.

1949: Immigrated to Canada.

1960s: Choir director at Holy Protection UCC (Toronto, ON).

1967: Director of the “Boyan” Choir and the Chaika Children’s Choir (Hamilton, ON).

1968: Led a mass choir and orchestra at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens.
