Joseph Marciniuk

Joseph Marciniuk [Йосиф Марцинюк], (b. 1903; d. 1983 in Cleveland, OH). A former Canadian who in the late 1930s co-directed, along with Rev. Volodymyr Sluzar, the choir at St. Sophie Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Montreal, Quebec). Afterwards, Marciniuk came to the U.S. and by 1947 he was directing the choir at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church in New York City. In 1948, he founded the “Bandura” Male Chorus at St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Woonsocket, RI. Ultimately, he settled in Parma, OH, and served at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral during the 1960s and 1970s as cantor and choir director.
