Rev. Gregory Pavlovsky

Rev. Gregory Pavlovsky [Григоріӣ Павловськиӣ], (b. 1885 in the village of Lisovychi, Kyiv oblast; d. Dec. 7, 1967, in the Bronx, NY). He studied at the Kyiv Theological Seminary and later became a professor at the Ukrainian Folk Conservatory Music in Kamianets-Podilskyi. He came to America as a member of Koshetz’s Ukrainian National Chorus and toured North and South America. Having made the decision to stay in the U. S., he supported himself by giving music lessons, singing in operas, organizing choirs, conducting orchestras, and making recordings. In 1934, he became an Orthodox priest and was assigned to parishes in Pennsylvania (Arnold, Chester) and New Jersey (Bound Brook, Millville, and Perth Amboy). He died in 1967 and is buried in St. Andrew Cemetery, South Bound Brook, NJ.
