Danylo Petrivsky [Данило Петрівськиӣ], (b. 1891 in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine; d. 1981 in Minneapolis, MN). Longtime choir director of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Petrivsky was born in 1891 in Dnipropetrovsk. The son of a priest, he was educated at the Poltava Theological Seminary. He directed his first choir in 1913. In the early 1920s, he pursued higher musical education in Podebrady, Czechoslovakia. During WWII, he was a refugee living at the DP Camp in Regensburg, Germany. Professor Petrivsky immigrated to America in 1949, settled in Minneapolis. He directed the choir at St. Michael’s for the next 30 yearsm and died in 1981 at the age of 90.
