William (Bill) Solomon

William “Bill” Solomon [Вaсиль Соломон], (b. February 11, 1930, in Ethelbert, Manitoba; d. October 30, 2021, in Winnipeg, Manitoba). Conductor of Hoosli [Гуслі] Ukrainian Male Chorus of Winnipeg. As a student at St. Andrew’s College (1947), he became involved in the choral scene of Winnipeg’s North End Ukrainian community. He became a member of the Ukrainian Male Chorus led by Walter Bohonos and eventually was promoted to assistant conductor. He joined the Koshetz Choir in 1965, and a short time later he was put in charge of the male chorus. He also directed the Youth Choir at Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral as well as the SUMK Choir. Then in 1985, he accepted the leadership of the Hoosli Male Chorus, a position which he held for the next three decades.
