
Roman Stavnychy [Роман Ставничиӣ], (b. in 1889 in the village of Kuropatnyky [Куропатники Бережанського повіту на Тернопільщині]; d. in 1959 in Buffalo, NY). Conductor and music teacher in Berezhany, Yavoriv, Kolomyia. He studied at the Mykola Lysenko National Music Academy in Lviv and was a conductor of the “Boyan” choir. He was in exile in Vienna and then in Bavaria (Karlsfeld, Berchtesgaden) in 1949. Later, he made it to Buffalo, New York, where he became the choir director at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
