Simon Woshakiwsky

Simon Woshakiwsky [Симон Петрович Вaсилaкі-Вожaківський], (b. May 23, 1911, in Kirovohrad, Ukraine; d. June 5, 1984, in Clifton, NJ). Choir director and composer. Woshakiwsky was born into a family of priests. He enrolled at a local conservatory for his musical training. In 1946, he was chosen to be the choirmaster in Germany for Metropolitan Polycarp (Sikorsky). Later, he immigrated to America and directed church choirs in the New Jersey area. His collected works of sacred music were published posthumously in 1988 by Prof. Mykhailo Lev.
