John Beley

John Beley [Івaн Белій], (b. March 31, 1927, in Johnstown, PA; d. March 10, 2019, in Johnstown, PA). Former choir director at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was a printer by trade. Trained as an accordionist, he played in local dance bands in the 1940s and ‘50s. In 1952, when Fr. Eugene Korolyshyn was transferred in 1952 from the Boston parish of Holy Trinity (today St. Andrew’s) to SS. Peter and Paul in Johnstown, John Beley was asked to become the choir director of the parish. He held that position for the next five decades.
