Leo Bezruchko

Leo Bezruchko [Лев Безручко], (b. 1897 in Western Ukraine; d. October 21, 1958, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, ). Choir director and one of the original members of the Ukrainian Republic Capella (est. 1918) under the direction of O. Koshetz. He immigrated to America in 1930. For the next few years, he led the Ukrainian Community Chorus in Buffalo, New York. Then, around 1935, he moved to the New York / New Jersey area and accepted the position of choirmaster at St. Volodymyr UOC. Leo Bezruchko is buried in Taylor, PA, at the cemetery of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Scranton.
