
George Lucyk [Юрій Луцик], (b. March 3, 1935, in Lviv Ukraine; d. 2015 in Minneapolis, MN), fine artist and church choir director. He was born the son of the well-known artist and iconographer, Stepan Lucyk. When Germany invaded Ukraine in 1941, the Lucyk family fled to the west, but were captured and sent to a concentration camp in Berlin. Having survived the ordeal, they immigrated in 1946 to St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1974, George Lucyk organized the singing group “Acord,” and in 1985 he became the choir director at St. Constantine Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
