
Bohdan Markiw [Богдан Марків], (born: October 7, 1928, in Wolsztyn, Poland) conductor, violinist, and music teacher. He was born in Poland and grew up in Ternopil, Ukraine. He left Ukraine during WWII and lived at the DP camp in Berchtesgaden, Germany, from 1946 to 1949. After studying music in Germany and Spain, he immigrated to America in 1957, where he taught music and played the violin in various orchestras in the Connecticut area. As director of the choir at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Haven, he added much new music to the choir’s repertoire, including the entire Mass by Ivan Nedilsky.
