
Eugene Turula [Євген Турулa], (b: Jan. 4, 1882, in Berezhany, Ternopil; d: 1951 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.), Ukrainian-Canadian composer and choir director. He was educated at the Lviv Theological Seminary. Following his graduation in 1906, he pursued advanced musical training at conservatories in Lviv and Berlin. He left Ukraine around 1923 and arrived in Canada, where he established himself as a influential choral leader. During the 1930s, he served as the choirmaster at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Ivan Suchavsky, located at Main Street and Selkirk in Winnipeg. He was also the organizer and director of several large concert choirs in the city.
