Rev. Stephen Hallick-Holutiak

Rev. Stephen Hallick-Holutiak [прот. Степан Галик-Голутяк] (b. August 31, 1919, in Hinckley, NY; d. June 22, 2000, in Glendale, CA). Priest and choir director at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in New York City from 1940 to 1944. He entered the priesthood in 1945 and served parishes in Arnold, PA; Youngstown, OH; Woonsocket, RI; Cleveland, OH; and McKees Rocks, PA. In each of those places, he produced legible scores for all the choirs. Among his many publications is Hymns of the Eastern Orthodox Church (1966), which contains English versions of familiar Ukrainian hymns. In 1974, Fr. Hallick was assigned to St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Los Angeles, CA, where he remained until his death in 2000.
