Monsignor Clemente Preima [o. Климентій Приймa], (b. May 12, 1914, in Iracema, Santa Catarina region, Brazil; d. April 19, 1979, in Brooklyn, NY). Ukrainian Catholic priest and composer of church music. He studied for the priesthood at St. Josaphat Pontifical Ukrainian College in Rome. After his ordination in Rome in 1938, he returned to Brazil to begin his service in the town of Mallet, Paraná. In 1953, he was elevated to the rank of Monsignor; as vicar general, he oversaw all the Ukrainian Catholics in Brazil. In the 1960s, he was brought to the U.S. at the request of Bishop Joseph Schmondiuk, and was assigned to St. George UCC in Boston and later to St. Nicholas Church in Brooklyn, NY. He passed away in 1979 and his body was sent back to Brazil to be buried in the Ukrainian cemetery in Mallet Paraná, Brazil.
