Nicholas Styn

Nicholas Styn [Микола Штинь], (b. 1911 Ustryky Dolishni [Устрики Долішні], today southeastern Poland; d. 1999 in Youngstown, Ohio). Choir director at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown, Ohio. He received his musical training on the flute. The Styn family came to America in 1948 and settled in Youngstown where there were jobs in the steel industry. At first, he directed the choir at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Struthers, Ohio. Then in the 1960s, he started directing at Holy Trinity and remained there until around 1990. He is buried at SS. Peter and Paul UCC Cemetery in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania. In his hands, he holds a copy of “Boh Predvichnyj” and the silver tuning fork he used during his years as choir director.
