
Yaroslav Kokorudz [Ярослав Кокорудз], (b. Aug. 22, 1919, in village of Paportno [с. Папортно], Peremysl Voivodeship, Poland; d. Мay 26, 1974, in Chicago). Doctor-anesthesiologist. Was graduated from the Conservatory, studied at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Assistant conductor to Andrij Hnatyshyn (Student choir in Berlin). Graduate of from Berlin University (1944). After World War II, he worked as a doctor in camps for displaced persons in Karlsfeld and Ellwangen in Germany, where he organized and conducted church and camp choirs (1945-49). In 1949, he immigrated to the USA (Binghamton, New York), completed hospital. practice and specialization (1950–53). Moved to Chicago around 1960. Conductor of the choirs “SURMA;” Cathedral Choir “SLAVUTA” (St. Nicholas); “SUM” Youth Choir (1961–74).
